New Zealand beat Pakistan by 73 runs thanks to a career-best innings of 132 from Mark Chapman and four wickets from Nathan Smith.

Chasing a target of 345, Pakistan got off to a good start. They were 249/3 in the 39th over, but after Babar Azam was dismissed for 78, their wickets started to fall. The rest of Pakistan lost 7 wickets for 22 runs and the team was bowled out for 271 in 44.1 overs.

Pakistan decided to field first and early on Naseem Shah took the wicket of Will Young to put pressure on them. After that, Akif Javed took two wickets to put New Zealand in trouble, and they reached 50/3. Then a 198-run partnership between Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell gave New Zealand a chance to turn the tables. Chapman scored a half-century off 63 balls and then completed his century off 31 balls, while Mitchell scored 76 off 84 balls.

Pakistan looked to make a comeback in the final overs but Mohammad Abbas’s brilliant innings took New Zealand to over 340. Abbas scored 52 off 26 balls and hit 3 fours and 3 sixes.

Pakistan’s batting started well, with Abdullah Shafiq and Usman Khan putting on an opening partnership of 83 runs. But both were soon out. This was followed by Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan putting on a 76-run partnership. Abbas broke the partnership by taking the wicket of Rizwan, and then Pakistan’s batting began to decline rapidly after Babar Azam’s dismissal.

New Zealand took advantage of this opportunity and took the remaining wickets to bowl out Pakistan for 271 runs.

Summary: New Zealand finished their innings at 344/9, with Mark Chapman scoring 132, Daryl Mitchell scoring 76 and Mohammad Abbas scoring 52. Pakistan were bowled out for 271, with Babar Azam scoring 78 and Nathan Smith taking 4 wickets. New Zealand won by 73 runs.
